Berean Church Pastor
Leon
Adkins, the son of a
Baptist pastor, was
born in Dallas,
Texas. As a
teenager, he moved
with his family to
Oklahoma, where he
lived until 1972. He
received his
Bachelor of Arts
from East Central
State College, a
Masters of Arts in
Biblical Studies
from Dallas
Theological Seminary
and did graduate
work at the
University of
Guanajuato in
Mexico. Before being
called to lead the
Berean ministries in
Irving, Leon was an
artist for outdoor
advertising
companies and a
public school
teacher specializing
in Fine Art and
Spanish.
Leon has been a
member of Berean
Memorial Church
since 1972. He has
been actively
involved in the
church, serving as a
teacher in Berean
Christian Academy,
school board member,
elder, Sunday school
teacher, director of
Christian education
and leader in Berean
Youth Clubs. He and
his wife, Sheilah,
met at Berean
Memorial Church and
were married in
1988. Their son,
James was born in
1992.
Leon believes that
there are many Bible
instructors, but
only one teacher,
the Holy Spirit. It
is his sincere
prayer that God will
use his spiritual
gifts as a channel
of transforming
truth. Leon Adkins

Church, president of
Berean Christian
Academy and
president of Berean
Youth Clubs.
Berean Church Founder
Dr. John
E. Danish was born and
reared in Chicago,
Illinois. Following a
tour of military duty
in World War II as an
officer in the United
States Marine Corps,
he completed his
undergraduate work at
Baylor University in
Waco, Texas, earning
the Bachelor of Arts
degree, "cum laude."
He pursued graduate
studies at Dallas
Theological Seminary,
majoring in Greek and
Systematic Theology
and was graduated
"with honor,"
receiving the Master
and Doctor of Theology
degrees.
Dr.
Danish exercised his
spiritual gift of
teaching from 1951 to
2003 as the
Pastor-Teacher of
Berean Memorial Church
of Irving, Texas. He
was also the founder
and President of
Berean Christian
Academy and the
Director of the Berean
Youth Clubs. He and
his wife, Lenora, are
the parents of three
sons and a daughter.
Dr.
Danish's ministry
was based on the
principle that the
Word of God is living
and active
(Heb. 4:12), and
that his divine
calling is to
explain that Word to
receptive people
(Mark 6:11). His
objective was always
to feed the flock of
God's people the
spiritual food of
Bible doctrine truth
(1 Pet. 5:2). He had
no desire to be
well-known, honored,
or followed; he
wanted this for the
Lord Jesus Christ.
There is, after all,
only one celebrity
in the body of
Christ and that is
the Lord Jesus
(Phil. 2:9).
